The blogosphere is buzzing with the rumor that the Democratic Reps on the House Armed Service Committee are considering including a restoration of habeas corpus provision in the Defense Department Authorization Bill being marked up today and tomorrow. This comes on the back of some Hill meetings that we have been involved with, including some with individuals who have significant knowledge of these issues, that suggest Congress is ready to push back against the White House on torture, detention, rendition etc….this gives me hope that we can regain some of what we have lost.
