Integrating the Regions

At the CGS 2021 Annual Conference, Fernando Iglesias presented a vision for achieving world federation through the integration of regional blocs. As a former Member of the Argentine Parliament, Co-President of the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy, and a leading voice in Latin American governance reform, Iglesias brought both scholarly depth and practical political experience to this presentation.
Event Description
Iglesias argued that regional integration offers a pragmatic pathway toward world federation, building on the successes and lessons of existing regional bodies. Drawing on his experience in Latin American politics and his work with transnational governance organizations, he examined how regions around the world could deepen their institutional cooperation as stepping stones toward a more unified global governance structure. His presentation complemented other sessions at the conference that explored alternative routes to world federation.
