2019 CGS National Convention
Event Description
Stories about the future often picture a humanity that has put war behind it. The 2019 National Convention of Citizens for Global Solutions (CGS) asked how seriously that picture should be taken. It was held in the Los Angeles area from 1 to 3 November 2019. The recordings from the convention are collected on this page. The featured recording above is the Star Trek session with Tad Daley and Rod Roddenberry.
Roddenberry spoke about his father’s idea of infinite diversity in infinite combinations. Daley set out what a federation of humanity could look like. It would have a parliament, an executive and courts at world level, and no permanent national armies. Loyalty to humanity would come before national loyalty. The convention also honored Lucy Law Webster for a lifetime of work that began in a student federalist chapter in 1948.
