What we do
Advocacy
CGS is proud to promote a variety of campaigns that align with our vision, mission, and values. We provide our members with opportunities to advance some or all of these causes through targeted actions led by us, our partners, and/or coalitions to which we belong.
Mobilizing an Earth Governance Alliance (MEGA)
The MEGA platform includes a range of campaigns and proposals addressing different aspects of global environmental governance. These campaigns and proposals are being led by different organizations and networks. Organizations participating in MEGA are free to support some, many or all of the campaigns and proposals as suits their interest, expertise and constituencies.
Areas of Focus
Engage with our work across sustainable development, the enforcement of human rights norms, reforming the United Nations for greater transparency, fostering new global institutions for democracy, and prioritizing disarmament to achieve a world free of conflict.
Safeguarding Human Rights and Upholding International Law
We advocate for global coordination, legal frameworks, and collective action to address human rights violations and provide accountability for violations of international law.
Strengthening the United Nations
We urge for a more transparent and democratic UN through comprehensive reforms to strengthen its governance, enhance transparency, and improve accountability.
Supporting New Global Institutions and Mechanisms
We encourage efforts to conceive and achieve new global institutions to enable an effective democratic world federation.
Promoting Disarmament and Peace
We promote centralizing arms control, facilitating peaceful dispute resolution, fostering collective security, and reallocating resources to achieve a world without war.
Arresting Environmental Degradation
We support coordinated policies, global agreements, scientific collaboration, sustainable development initiatives, monitoring and enforcement, and resource mobilization on a global scale to protect our planet.
