Oxfam has released its latest report on the G8 countries’ progress towards fulfilling the Gleneagles commitments to double aid to Africa and globally in order to help developing countries achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The results are depressing. In 2006, for the first time in almost a decade, development assistance to the poorest countries fell. When Germany hosts the G8 Summit this year in Heiligendamm, the global anti-poverty movement will be watching carefully to see how the G8 leaders handle this…more broken promises?
