We are sad to report that House Incumbent Tom Perriello from Virginia’s 5th district lost his bid for re-election to Republican challenger Robert Hurt. Perriello was endorsed by Citizens for Global Solutions because of his passion for global issues and commitment to making the world a safer place for future generations. His support of the United Nations as a means to help resolve international conflict as well as his commitment on various global issues such as peacekeeping earned him an A on CGS’S 2010 Congressional Report Card.

Perriello has remained optimistic despite his loss and has vowed to continue working on issues that are important to him and fellow American citizens. Perriello noted last night “Real change is not something that is measured in a year or two. I believe our actions will ripple out for years to come.” Recently President Obama praised Perriello for his “political courage” and for making tough decisions on a variety of issues during his term in Congress.

We are saddened that will not be able to continue working with Perriello but welcome the opportunity to work with Robert Hurt and his staff on global issues.
