Supporting New Global Institutions and Mechanisms
We encourage efforts to conceive and achieve new global institutions to enable an effective democratic world federation.
Nearly every global institution seemed far-fetched or ambitious upon its introduction. In addition to supporting existing institutions within the UN system and other methods of international cooperation, CGS encourages dialogue on new and novel forms of coordination.
Some of these ideas include:
World Citizenship Initiative
Citizens for Global Solutions promotes the idea of world citizenship in all its programs, campaigns, and outreach activities. Our friends at World Citizen Government animate this principle by providing World Passports and identity documents that assist individuals in truly becoming “Global Citizens.” To apply, people can fill out the Application for World Documents form.
World Constitution
A proposed world constitution would provide for a democratic federal world government under world law. It would include a world legislature (global parliament), world courts, and a world executive. Guided by the principles of the separation of powers, checks and balances, and the rule of law, these structures would protect the rights and security of the people of all nations and serve as a legitimate, accountable, and representative world organization. More information on this initiative can be found on CGS’s YouTube channel.
World Court of Human Rights Coalition
The Coalition for the World Court of Human Rights (WCHR) aims to “provide a forum for the adjudication of individual claims, and of class action claims, arising out of large-scale human rights abuses. It will be the first judicial system to do so at the global level, and will positively impact the lives of millions and millions of the world’s most vulnerable persons.” To participate, subscribe to the WCHR Coalition mailing list and follow the WCHR Coalition initiative on Twitter.
