Uniting the Democracies

At the CGS 2021 Annual Conference, Chris Hamer presented his vision for achieving world federation by uniting the world’s democracies. As a physicist, author, and longtime advocate for democratic global governance, Hamer brought a unique perspective that combined scientific rigor with a deep commitment to peace and nuclear disarmament.
Event Description
Hamer outlined a pathway to world federation that begins with democratic nations forming a security community and progressively deepening their institutional cooperation. Drawing on his extensive work on global governance and disarmament, he argued that democratic world federation represents the only effective means of addressing existential threats such as nuclear weapons and climate change. His presentation complemented other conference sessions that explored alternative models for world federation.
