Getting There Together
The UN Role in Global Cooperation.
The UN has maintained its existence for 72 years (much longer than many countries) and has expanded its membership from 51 countries to 193. The UN keeps leaders of national governments talking to one another as it deals with important global issues such as protecting human rights, practicing democratic skills, organizing peacekeeping forces, and addressing global warming, global poverty and global health care issues.
Whereas there are many limitations to the UN, US support and cooperation is critical in order to continue to deliver the many contributions of the UN to the peace and sustainability of our world. We need to keep the US in the UN, and then push to transform the UN to make for a more secure, just and workable world.
