CGS Action Network
The mission of the CGS Action Network is to build political will in the United States for global cooperation and democratic international institutions that respect the rights of individuals, peoples, and nations.
Our Strategy
CGS aims to achieve its long-term goal of a democratic world federation by raising public awareness through outreach and educational programming, conducting and contributing to advocacy campaigns, and providing thought leadership on models and practical strategies to achieve our objective of a unified world that embraces peace, respects human and planetary rights, and adheres to the rule of law and democratic values.
Our Model
CGS is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nongovernmental organization dedicated to promoting a democratic world federation predicated on peace, respect for human rights, and the rule of law. Founded in 1947 as the United World Federalists, today we operate through our Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and our Action Network, a 501(c)(4) organized to promote social welfare through advocacy. We are a member organization of the World Federalist Movement–Institute for Global Policy (WFM-IGP), a global network of like-minded organizations dedicated to our core cause, and are proud to be in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
United Nations
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
CGS has consultative status with the UN Economic and Security Council (ECOSOC) and is also associated with the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC). Association with DGC helps Civil Society Organizations gain access to and disseminate information about the range of issues in which the United Nations is involved, enabling them to more effectively carry out their activities in support of the UN Charter and to raise awareness among public audiences about the work of the Organization. CGS also promotes initiatives to strengthen and democratize the UN.
