CGS 2021 Virtual Conference

Join world federalists from around the globe to learn and discuss paths to world federation.

For the first time ever, we will be featuring the leaders of 5 paths that appear prominently in the historical literature of the World Federalist Movement and continue until today. These are:

  • Transform the United Nations:
    • UN Charter Review – Shahr-yar Sharei
    • The United Nations Parliamentary Assembly – Andreas Bummel
  • Integrating the Regions – Fernando Iglesias
  • Uniting the Democracies – Chris Hamer
  • Creating a World Constitution – Glen T. Martin

Amy Oloo

Program Associate, Democracy Without Borders

Amy Oloo is a growing human rights specialist from Nairobi, Kenya with a particular passion for women’s rights and International Criminal Law. I Have an academic background in International Affairs and International law at the undergraduate and post graduate level (respectively), and I am inspired by my faith, my family and travel.

Andrea Klein Bergman

Executive Director, Progressive World Federalists (Canada)

Drea Klein Bergman is a public policy researcher with masters’ degrees from Maastricht Graduate School of Governance and United Nations University MERIT (Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology). She has over 9 years of global program delivery, including developing and delivering youth education curricula. She specializes in the evaluation of evidenced-based public policy programs using mixed methods research, including field research in unstable and conflict zones in the Middle East and Africa on behalf of NGOs and the United Nations. Thematic areas of focus include education, housing, and health issues.

Andreas Bummel

Director, Democracy Without Borders

Andreas Bummel is co-founder and director of Democracy Without Borders and the Campaign for a UN Parliamentary Assembly. From 1998 to 2018 he served on the Council of the World Federalist Movement. He is author of the book “A World Parliament: Governance and Democracy in the 21st Century” (with Jo Leinen) and considered one of the world’s leading experts on this subject. Chris Hamer

President of the World Citizens Association (Australia)

Chris Hamer was formerly a theoretical physicist by trade. He was formerly active in Scientists Against Nuclear Arms (SANA), now Scientists for Global Responsibility (Australia). He is the founder and President of the World Citizens Association of Australia. He is also President of the recently formed Coalition for a World Security Community of democratic nations, a transnational working group which advocates Uniting the Democracies as the most likely path towards an eventual democratic world federation.

Eston McKeague

President, Young World Federalists

Eston McKeague is President of the Young World Federalists (, an international organization dedicated to modernizing the movement bringing the message of world federation to a new generation.

Eston holds a BA in Global Affairs with minors in Economics and Religion and Culture from Western Washington University. Originally from Seattle, Eston currently lives in Berlin, Germany.

Fernando Iglesias

Co-President, WFM/IGP

Fernando Iglesias joined the WFM/IGP Executive Committee in 2012 as the Council Chair and has served as the Co-President since 2018. He serves as a Member of Parliament in Argentina (2007-2011 and 2017-2021), the Director of the campaign for a Latin American and Caribbean Criminal Court Against Transnational Organized Crime (COPLA), and the Co-Chair of the UNPA campaign’s Parliamentary Advisory Group. He is also a founding member of Democracia Global – Movimiento por la Unión Sudamericana y el Parlamento Mundial and directs the Altiero Spinelli Chair.

Glen T. Martin

Executive Director, Earth Constitution Institute

Glen T. Martin, after an undergraduate major in Philosophy at SUNY Buffalo, received his M.A. in Philosophy from Hunter College of City University of New York (CUNY) and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Graduate Center of CUNY. For 36 years Martin has been Professor of Philosophy at Radford University in Virginia, USA. He is the founder and Chair Emeritus of the Program in Peace Studies at Radford University. He is President of International Philosophers for Peace (IPPNO), President of the World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA), and Executive Director of the Earth Constitution Institute (ECI), the last two are worldwide organizations promoting the Constitution for the Federation of Earth.

Shahr-yar Sharei

Executive Director and President, CUNCR

Dr. Shahr-Yar Mahmoud Sharei, whose specialization is public international law and the UN Charter, is the founding Executive Director and President of the Center for United Nations Constitutional Research (CUNCR). In addition to his PhD and LLM in International Law, he holds a MS degree in Computer Science and a BSc in Applied Economics and Management.
