Citizens for Global Solutions’ UN Funding Campaign works to ensure that the U.S. pays its dues in full and on time for the UN’s regular & peacekeeping budgets.

Each year, the U.S. Congress is responsible for approving and allocating the payments requested by the President for our country's fair share of the UN budgets. These contributions are critical to promoting our own strategic national security and foreign policy interests, saving us money while growing jobs and our economy as well as gaining the respect and trust of others in the international community.

What Do We Get For Our Contributions?

• Immunizations for children that protect against infectious diseases
• Halting the spread of pandemics like SARS and swine flu and helping to make sure that those diseases won’t appear in the U.S
• The UN will take on more and more of the peacekeeping and governance duties in Iraq and Afghanistan as the U.S. reduces its presence in those countries
• Critical international nuclear monitoring programs in areas like Iran and North Korea
• The UN provides stability in fragile states around the world, with 15 peacekeeping missions currently active
• The United States enjoys economic and job opportunities through the awarding of many UN contracts 
• Being a team player by paying our share of the UN budgets expands our foreign policy options by building ties of respect with other nations, so that we can count on them -- and they know they can count on us

Over 110,000 peacekeepers from 120 countries provide security and stability to the 15 UN peacekeeping missions around the globe. Peacekeepers protect civilians, monitor border disputes, and train local military and police forces. They work to rebuild war-torn rule of law institutions, like the court houses, corrections facilities, and police stations. 

Peacekeepers also reintegrate former combatants, through the collection and disposal of arms, the discharge of fighters from forces, and assistance in locating employment and income.
