The Citizens for Global Solutions Political Action Committee (PAC) is proud to
announce that it has recently endorsed and contributed to three campaigns for
the US Senate: Richard Lugar (R-IN), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Bob Casey (D-PA).
We feel confident that these candidates share CGS’ vision, and will work to
promote an interconnected, cooperative, and effective state-system.
As Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Richard Lugar has been a
true global leader and advocate for internationalism. Lugar’s commitment to
inter-state cooperation has been vocal and diverse: he co-authored the Lugar-Biden
Climate Change Resolution (S Res. 312), as well as the Nunn-Lugar Cooperative
Threat Reduction program. A proponent of the Law of the Sea Treaty and a strong
supporter of AIDS relief funding, Senator Lugar has also co-sponsored a bill
with Senator Barack Obama toward securing nuclear fuel deposits. We are
extremely pleased to endorse him and contribute to his campaign for reelection
to the Senate.
Sherrod Brown, currently serving as the Democratic Representative for Ohio’s
13th District, is resigning his House seat to challenge incumbent Republican
Mike DeWine for the Senate. Brown is committed to fighting world poverty,
reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting global institutions and
international cooperation. He has been especially vocal in the fight against
global infectious diseases, having recently sponsored a bill to dramatically
increase US funding for the prevention, treatment, and control of tuberculosis
(H.R.5022). His opponent, Mike DeWine, received a C in our 2006 Congressional
report card. We are honored to endorse and contribute to Rep. Brown’s campaign
for the Senate.
We are also pleased to endorse Bob Casey in his race against incumbent
Republican Senator Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania. Casey is passionately
committed to global environmental issues, and believes strongly that the US
should lead the world in reducing carbon emissions. He is also committed to
combating infectious diseases, as indicated by his strong record as a public
health official. His opponent, Rick Santorum, received a D in our 2006
Congressional report card. We are extremely pleased to endorse and support
Casey’s candidacy for the US Senate.
CGS is confident that these exceptional candidates will continue their
leadership on issues such as global health, sustainable development, conflict
resolution, and international cooperation. We are immensely pleased to support
their campaigns.
