About the Artist
How did you hear about Citizens for Global Solutions Flash Contest?
I heard of it from my Gifted Teacher, Mrs. Rosenbauer. She always told
me about different opportunities, and it was perfect because I am
interested in politics, humanitarian issues, and art.
Was this your first Flash piece? How did you first learn Flash?
No. I learned how to use flash from a course I took for about a week one day in the summer a couple years ago.
How did you choose your topic –OR- Why is your topic important to you?
I chose this topic because I know people wonder what they can do when
they see something terrible like what is going on in Darfur. However,
instead of just saying, "Gee that’s horrible," and leaving it at that,
people can take steps to stop it. One of the major ways to do this is
to contact one's senators or congresspeople. That it what I wanted to
communicate.
Before the contest, did you consider yourself fairly knowledgeable
about global issues? Has this contest opened your eyes in any way?
Somewhat. Still though, I learned more than I had before. I didn't know
the true magnitude of what has happened in Darfur till reading more of
the statistics.
Did you have any weird, funny, horrible, or in some other way memorable
moments during the making of your Flash piece for this contest?
Yes. I had so many problems exporting this file!! Static! But besides
that, the people in my dorm said the last musical number sounded
"inappropriate". So I thought that was funny.
Any last words/Anything else you’d like for us and the flash viewers to know?
Anybody who wants to get into animation should go for it. It's really
amazing to see your work come to life. All the hard work and agony pays
off, and it's awesome when you see people enjoy it.
Also, we've got to pay attention to what’s going on with Darfur. I
heard someone once say what I'm about to repeat. After the Holocaust,
we said never again would we allow such a thing to happen. Well it's
happening. So, we (all of us) have to do our part to try and stop it.
