In 1992, world leaders met in Rio de Janeiro to hold an historic Earth Summit to discuss global sustainable development. Now, 20 years later, these leaders, will meet again to discuss the progress we've made and the challenges we still face. They, along with representatives from both the public and private sector and nongovernmental organizations, will decide how the international community can work together to can reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection in light of an ever increasing world population.
What happened at the original Earth Summit in 1992? What progress has been made in the last 20 years? What are the expectations and goals for a Rio+20 agreement? What role can the United States play in building a sustainable future for all? Listen to our Partners Call on May 19th at 1 pm EST to find out the answers to these and many other questions from experts who will be attending the conference themselves. Please note that May 19th is the third Saturday in May, and not the second, when we typically hold the call.
