Citizens for Global Solutions 2011 Board of Directors Nominees & Election Information
We are preparing to elect new members to our Citizens for Global Solutions (c)4 Board. The Board would like to recommend the following candidates for election in 2011:
CGS bylaws state that individuals may add to the proposed ballot the name(s) of other candidates by submitting a petition with the signatures of 100 members or 1% of the total membership, whichever is fewer. Petitions with signatures must be submitted to CGS by February 18, 2011 to be considered for election to the Board. Petitions may be sent via email or regular mail.

Two years ago Jordan Bankhead started the Citizens for Global Solutions chapter in Oxford, Mississippi. At present, his efforts focus on regional networking with other like-minded nonprofits wishing to pursue international peace and justice. In addition to his CGS activities, Jordan is active in the local nonprofit sector and currently serves on the board of the Chamber of Commerce. Jordan is also a member of Rotary Club International, and is also a founding member of the Entrepreneurial Alliance of Lafayette-Oxford-University (L.O.U.). Jordan also teaches political science as an adjunct professor at the University of Mississippi. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A in History and Russian in 1998. Jordan also attended law school at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with his J.D. in 2001. After that, he moved to Oxford, Mississippi where he started a law practice in 2003. In 2007, he graduated from the University of Mississippi with his Ph.D. in International Relations.
Tom has been a political and social activist since he was 18 years old and involved with WFA/CGS since 1982 (President of the Southern California Region for thirteen terms and over 20 years as a Board member). He holds a B.A. in Sociology and a Juris Doctorate. He was a union representative and organizer for 20 years and a founder of numerous progressive organizations. He is a former national board member of the U.S. Institute for Peace Foundation. Currently he is a Board Member of the Southern California Americans for Democratic Action, Co-Chair of Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles, 47th Assembly District Environmental Commissioner, an elected 47th Assembly District Delegate for the California Democratic Party, and the 2009 Los Angeles County Democratic Party "Man of the Year" for the 47th Assembly District.
Karen Mulhauser, President of Mulhauser and Associates, has been providing consulting services to nonprofit organizations, grantmakers and candidates for public office since 1988. In addition, she brings many years of leadership experience as CEO and board member of domestic and international nonprofit groups, with particular expertise in management assistance, public affairs, elections, meeting and program planning and facilitation, fundraising, coalition building, strategic planning and evaluation. Clients concerned with global issues include InterAction, Ashoka, Population Action International, AED, USAID (Global Development Alliance Chief of Party), AWID, International Center for Research on Women, International Women's Health Coalition, Physicians for Social Responsibility, WAND and Women's Edge (now Women Thrive). Karen currently serves as President of UN Association of the National Capital Area. She was the President and founder of America's Impact, a donor network to support and elect candidates for Congress with global commitment and has served on boards such as Women's Thrive (founding member), International Development Conference (Chair), Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign and Association for Women in Development. Karen was a Senior Advisor to Obama for America and coordinated Women for Obama in the DC area. Karen was a graduate of Antioch College in 1965 with graduate study at Tufts University.
Scott T. Paul was most recently the Making Amends Campaign Fellow for CIVIC. Scott directed the organization's advocacy at the United Nations in order to build support for the principle that all warring parties should help the civilians that they harm during armed conflict. Before joining CIVIC, Scott served as Deputy Director, Government Relations for Citizens for Global Solutions. In this capacity, he directed numerous coalition campaigns dedicated to promoting a pragmatic, principled and multilateral vision for U.S. foreign policy. He also served as the organization's in-house expert on strategic communications relating to international issues and was a frequent contributor to the popular blogs Bolton Watch and The Washington Note. Scott did his undergraduate work at Columbia University and St. Petersburg State University, during which time he co-founded SustainUS, a nationwide youth organization promoting sustainable development at the UN and in local communities, and served as its first Chairperson. He is currently a J.D. candidate at the New York University School of Law.
