CGS Political Action Committee (PAC)
Global Solutions PAC: 2010 Results and Looking Ahead
Citizens for Global Solutions is delighted that an overwhelming majority of our endorsed candidates were elected to Congress in November 2010, with over 70 percent of the House and Senate candidates endorsed winning in both chambers. In the 112th Congress, more than 140 House Members and 10 Senators are taking office with whom we have built relationships through our Global Solutions PAC.
There were of course some unfortunate losses by Global Solutions PAC endorsed candidates in 2010. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI), a longtime CGS ally and champion on genocide prevention and many other key issues, lost his bid for re-election, and former Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) fell just short in his race for the Senate. Additionally, Rep. Joseph Cao (R-LA), co-chair of the American Engagement Caucus, lost his bid for a second term in the House of Representatives. But many strong CGS allies are back in the new Congress this year, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), as well as new members of Congress such as Senator Chris Coons (D-DE), all of whom were endorsed by Global Solutions PAC.
CGS looks forward to working with the members of the 112th Congress in the new year and partnering with them to promote international cooperation, support and funding for international institutions, prevention of genocide and mass atrocities, and ratification of key treaties including CEDAW and Law of the Sea.
About Global Solutions PAC
Citizens for Global Solutions Political Action Committee (Global Solutions PAC) works to elect federal candidates who support building effective democratic global institutions that will apply the rule of law while respecting the diversity and autonomy of national and local communities.
Global Solutions PAC raises funds for candidates who share these goals, who are engaged in competitive races, who champion Citizens for Global Solutions policy goals on the Hill, and who lead important committees in Congress.
Global Solutions PAC is not affiliated with any political party and only accepts contributions from Citizens for Global Solutions members. Global Solutions PAC committee members, who make decisions on endorsements and contributions, are volunteers elected by Citizens for Global Solutions’ Board of Directors who represent global citizens from all regions of our nations. In the 2008 election cycle, Global Solutions PAC distributed over $68,000 to candidates.
Our Congressional Report Card
Citizens for Global Solutions publishes the Congressional Report Card allowing you to see how your Senators and Representatives voted on legislation that affects the United Nations, the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the global environment, global health, and other international issues and institutions.
You can identify your elected officials, and get information on their voting record on international issues, by selecting your state.
Our Congressional Candidate Questionnaire
The CGS Candidate Questionnaire (CQ) is a valuable tool for learning what positions Congressional candidates take on issues ranging from peacekeeping and genocide prevention to nuclear nonproliferation. The questionnaire responses are used by the Global Solutions PAC committee to evaluate candidates for endorsement and/or a campaign contribution.

Take Action:
You can help! We are asking CGS members and anyone else interested to help us out and send candidates in their state and district our questionnaire -- candidates are more likely send in their questionnaire if their own constituents are the ones asking for a response.
- Check if the candidates for your area (Senate or House) have already returned the Candidate Questionnaire.
- If they haven't, download the Candidate Questionnaire -- or -- copy this link to the electronic version: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LLC3VC7
- Email or snail mail the Questionnaire to the candidates in your area. Candidate addresses and contact info can be found here

From the CEO...

"I cannot tell you how amazing it is to give a candidate a contribution because of their work on international issues. They never get money because of what they do globally. They don't realize that their constituents care about these issues. I can tell you that we get their attention.”
~ Don Kraus, CEO
