Students protest CIA torture11/16/07Students protest CIA torture
Posted by Tom Moran
On Wednesday a group of students from the University of California Santa Barbara sabotaged a CIA recruiting presentation to protest covert U.S. torture and rendition policies and waterboarding in particular. Dressed as clowns, one of the group was placed on a table in front of the recruiter, who subsequently made a quick exit, their hands bound and water poured over their head to simulate waterboarding, the controversial mock-drowning strategy practiced by the CIA. "I was aware of it on a purely intellectual level but actually seeing it in person is a whole different thing. It’s one thing to know its torture and say that’s really bad, that really sucks. But to see somebody screaming and coughing and choking in front of you, it’s a very emotional experience."

I am mightily impressed by the utter cynicism of the so-called 'students against torture' and equally disgusted by your fawning idiocy in giving them such uncritical coverage in your publication.
All one needs to do is a little checking to find that the initiative for this comes from the Revolutionary [sic] Communist [sic] Party, the largest of the Maoist organizations in the United States. These filth stand wholly behind the millions murdered and tortured to death during the period in which their hereo, the greatest mass-murderer in all of human history, Mao Zedong conducted his reign of terror. Mao Zedong had such a reputation as a vicious murderer and had conducted his first purge in his stronghold in Kiangsi Province in 1934 with such indescrimate violence and horrific torture that the Chinese Communist Party sent out a team to sideline him (which failed, needless to say, to accomplish its goal). During the supposedly "pure" Yenan period (1936-1947)a ruthless terror was conducted against dissident intellectuals (among them Wang Shiwei who was beheaded)which led in the period that folled to a huge campaign against the independent intelligencia (the Hu Feng campaign)and later after mass strikes broke out in 1957, aginst what the Maoists called "rightists (another typical and deliberate Maoist misrepresentation of the facts, inasmuch as most "rightists were not right-wing at all, but had insisted on democratic organization and proceedures to replace the despotism of the Party. Hundredds of these people were persucuted and hundreds died duriong what the Maoists are pleased to call the "Anti-Rightist" campsign. As many as fourty million people were killed by starvation, quite deliberately, as Maoist cranked up the (state) capitalist means of super-exploitation and surplus extraction during the "Great Leap Forward." Thousands were tortured to death, millions slaughtered (between 2 and 5, according to most estimates) and hundreds EATEN (Guangxi Province, 1968 - check the book 'Scarlet Memorial' for more harrowing details if you like) during the most insane period of Maoist rule, the soc-called 'Cultural Revolution'which finally ended the Chinese peoples hope for a better life under Maoism. Now the followers of this monster (with their own infallable leader, 'Chairman Bob Avakian')would like to establish their own police-state here and to do so they cultivate baby-kissing activies like campaigns against police brutality (they with the most brutal cops in history) and torture. And rather than laughing, you have helped them send their entirely misleading message to a public still unaware of their actual identity so that they may have more recruits, expand their power and prestige, and establish greater and greater control over oppositional activities here in this country, harassing honest revolutionaries, demoralizing the most conscious ordinary people and enlisting the most loyal and stupid. Consider yourselves useful auxiliaries of the Maoists yourselves then. You're doing their work. Leave a comment:
