The Global Citizen: elections 2010
As campaign season moves full speed ahead with Labor Day weekend approaching, Global Solutions PAC continues to endorse additional candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives. We are pleased to announce our endorsement of the following candidates, both incumbents and challengers, who share our global vision and have championed our issues in Congress.
As published in the Huffington Post:
Thinking about sitting out the November elections because President Obama and Congress have let you down? Think again. The 2010 mid-term could prove to be the most pivotal election of our lifetime.
This is already the most cutthroat contest I have experienced during the last 15 years of working on federal elections. According to The Cook Political Report, there are now 73 highly competitive House races, compared to 51 in August of 2008. 66 of these 73 endangered seats are currently held by Democrats, compared to 20 out of 51 in 2008. Senate Democrats are equally pressured.

What's more dangerous: the thousands of nukes that will still target U.S. and Russian cities if the New START treaty is not ratified OR the opportunistic, Tea Party pandering politicians who would derail this commonsense agreement?
If you answered "the nukes", you're wrong.
New START will reduce the global inventory of strategic nuclear warheads on hair-trigger alert to levels not seen since I was born in 1954. But these weapons are not nearly as dangerous as the obstructive "Cold War" messaging that treaty opponents are deploying to upset New START's ratification.
Voters around the country headed to the polls on June 8th to vote in a series of primaries which will shape general election races this fall. How do yesterday's results impact candidates endorsed by Global Solutions PAC? Read on...
California
- Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina won the Republican Senate primary by a wide margin, taking 54 percent of the vote compared to 26 percent for former Rep. Tom Campbell and 17 percent for state Assemblyman Chuck Devore. Fiorina will face Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), who has been endorsed by Global Solutions PAC, in the general election this fall.
- In California's 36th congressional district, incumbent Rep. Jane Harman defeated challenger Marcy Winograd, who was endorsed by Global Solutions PAC, by a 61 to 39 percent margin. We congratulate Marcy on a good race.
Nevada
The 2010 congressional campaign season is now in full swing, with voters across the country heading to the polls today to vote in primary elections which will shape contests in the fall. In addition to supporting incumbent Senators and Representatives for re-election who have been strong advocates of Citizens for Global Solutions' priorities while in office, CGS's Global Solutions Political Action Committee (PAC) has already made several endorsements of challengers in House and Senate races this year.
